FAQs

What colour is the waterproofing?

The waterproofing we use for the roof is either Grey or White. The colour of the waterproofing is not colour fast and will fade. If you would prefer to not have the colour fading, we recommend that you paint over the waterproofing to your desired colour.

*You do not need to paint the waterproofing if you don’t want to.*

The waterproofing we use for Balconies and Showers is clear. The initial coating is clear with a gloss finish. The second coating is stronger and has a Matt finish. This will stop any glare from the surface and be able to handle harsher conditions. The second coating is not a necessity however we do recommend it.

What is the best paint to use to paint Polyurethane?

We recommend using a Pure Acrylic paint. It has a higher elasticity than other paints and won’t crack as easily due to the Polyurethane being a very flexible product.

How long does the process take?

The manufacturers spec states that the application needs to have a minimum of 3 layers. Depending on the size of the job, we can apply a layer a day to allow for the drying time over night. Bigger jobs may need more days depending on size.

How often do I need to do maintenance on the waterproofing?

Polyurethane has a NO maintenance working life of 25 years. Other waterproofing systems generally need maintenance coats every 2-3 years. With Polyurethane you can get away with a “Set it & Forget it” maintenance structure.

Is Polyurethane expensive?

Polyurethane has a higher initial cost but if you had to work out the pricing over a 25 year period, we guarantee it will be cheaper in the long run. If you had to redo your waterproofing every 5-6 years using a standard system, it would work out to be much more expensive than installing the Polyurethane system once.

Is the waterproofing slippery on the balcony or shower?

Any surface with a high amount of water, can become slippery. We add silica sand onto the surface with the product to add a bit of grit just to help make the surface have more grip.
